In 1999 I was invited by Fotofestval Naarden to make a work on animals in the Dutch Landscape. On a foggy Saturday morning I photographed this sheep north above Amsterdam. The moment of freeze does not last very long, but that is what they do when they spot you. It reminded me immediately of the body language that you often see in nineteenth century photography of Pieter Oosterhuis. He would always ask people to stand still while taking these wonderful overviews of construction works.
